Toronto Raptors guard Ja'Kobe Walter (hip) will miss Friday's game against Portland, extending his absence to seven straight contests as he works back from a right hip contusion. Walter's absence has sustained Jamal Shead's expanded role, with production holding despite efficiency concerns. Shead is averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals in 31.8 minutes over his last five games while shooting 34.8 percent from the field. His role could expand further if RJ Barrett (ankle) remains sidelined, giving Shead short-term standard-league value.
