Quarterback DJ Lagway Entering Transfer Portal
Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The Texas native was a splash signing for former head coach Billy Napier in the Class of 2024. He was 247 Sports' No. 3 overall player and No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country two years ago. Lagway has all the physical tools you want in a quarterback, but he's been unable to stay healthy and put it all together so far in his young career. In 24 career games, Lagway has completed 62% of his passes for 4,179 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. He threw for just 16 touchdowns to 14 interceptions in 2025. He did not take the sophomore leap many expected him to this season, but he should garner plenty of interest on the open market thanks to his raw tools and skill set. New Florida head coach Jon Sumrall will be tasked with finding a new starting quarterback in Gainesville.
