Daron Payne Suspended One Game For Unsportsmanlike Conduct
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Washington Commanders defensive lineman, Daron Payne, has been suspended one game for an act of unsportsmanlike conduct against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Payne was disqualified for punching Amon-Ra St. Brown after an altercation following Jahmyr Gibbs' running in a 13-yard score in the second quarter. Payne turned and threw a right hook at St. Brown, connecting square in the helmet. It's unclear what led to that incident or what was said between the two players beforehand, but that was the end of it as Payne was ejected and the Commanders went down 22-3 before losing 44-22. The next game for the Commanders is in Week 11, where they travel to Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Spain to take on the Miami Dolphins. The Commanders' defense is currently ranked near the bottom of the NFL, with recent reports placing them 29th in points allowed and 30th in yards allowed per game. Losing a veteran in Payne will not help; therefore, most Dolphins starters will be must-start plays in Week 11, such as Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane; meanwhile, players like Tua Tagovailoa and Malik Washington will be in the streamer conversation.
