NFL QB Power Rankings: All 32 Starting Quarterbacks for Week 9 Football (2025)

Daniel Jones - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Quincy's NFL QB power rankings for Week 9 of the 2025 season. He ranks all 32 starting NFL quarterbacks before Week 9, from Patrick Mahomes to Cameron Ward.

Week 8 featured a myriad of terrible NFL football. The games were not close, and therefore, they were not very entertaining. That means quarterback play was generally great for one team and not the other, resulting in some movement on this list.

With the parity that exists in the NFL, it is rare that we get weeks like this. Still, it is bound to happen, especially in a week in which six teams were on a bye. With many of our stud quarterbacks, including Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford, returning in Week 9, the quarterback play around the league should make games more competitive.

With so much poor play, NFL fans can often get discouraged. Never fear, for the power rankings are here. We strive to let you know who is trending up and down each week. Let's dive in and see who you should be encouraged (or discouraged) to watch this coming weekend.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings:

No. 32: Cameron Ward - Tennessee Titans

Cameron Ward is still struggling mightily on a Titans team that looks completely lifeless. Still, Ward made several impressive throws throughout this game, but the frustration is mounting for the rookie.

No. 31: Tyler Shough - New Orleans Saints

Spencer Rattler was benched in favor of Tyler Shough in Week 8. It appears that the change is permanent, with head coach Kellen Moore announcing Shough as the starter for the remainder of the season. God speed Saints fans.

No. 30: Dillon Gabriel - Cleveland Browns

Dillon Gabriel has had a rough go at the starting job in Cleveland. He likely has a long leash, but the Browns have Shedeur Sanders waiting in the wings. They may have no choice but to turn to Sanders if Gabriel does not pick up his play.

No. 29: Justin Fields - New York Jets

Justin Fields' time as the Jets' starter seemed to be hanging in the balance heading into this week. An injury to Tyrod Taylor provided Fields with one last shot. Fields delivered and finally brought the Jets their first win of the season.

No. 28: Geno Smith - Las Vegas Raiders

Geno Smith enjoyed a bye in Week 8. With Smith turning the ball over at an alarming rate, Raiders fans can only hope that he fixed some of his issues during the off week. We will find out in Week 9.

No. 27: J.J. McCarthy - Minnesota Vikings

Despite teasing us for the last couple of weeks, it appears that J.J. McCarthy will make his return to the starting lineup in Week 9. The Vikings need a spark on offense. Although McCarthy was not playing exceptionally well before his ankle sprain, he has a chance to reassert himself in Week 9.

No. 26: Jaxson Dart - New York Giants

Jaxson Dart's rookie woes are setting in. The Eagles got revenge against the Giants in Week 8, and Dart was inconsistent. To add insult to injury, the Giants lost exciting rookie running back Cam Skattebo to a dislocated ankle as well. The season-long outlook for Dart is getting grimmer.

No. 25: Michael Penix Jr. - Atlanta Falcons

Michael Penix Jr. wound up sitting in Week 8 with a knee injury. He watched as Kirk Cousins drew the start. Fortunately for Penix, Cousins did nothing to push for the No. 1 job. The Falcons likely feel vindicated in their decision to move on from Cousins.

No. 24: Joe Flacco - Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Flacco played very well on Sunday against the Jets. Unfortunately, the Bengals continue to have such terrible defensive issues that scoring 38 points does not net them a win. Hopefully, Flacco's shoulder injury will not keep him out of Week 9, given that Jake Browning was one of the most unwatchable players this season.

No. 23: Bryce Young - Carolina Panthers

Dalton" data-id="12841">Andy Dalton seems to be a one-week stopgap for Bryce Young, who is poised to return in Week 9. Young and the Panthers continue to be incredibly streaky this season. Young will look to build momentum at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

No. 22: Kyler Murray - Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray and the Cardinals were on bye in Week 8. Murray has not been playing great football of late, and this team needed their bye as much as anyone. Week 9 will bring a great matchup against the Dallas Cowboys for Murray to get back on track.

No. 21: Tua Tagovailoa - Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa put a lot of negative chatter to bed in Week 8 by tossing four touchdown passes. Tagovailoa was great in a matchup that was difficult on paper. While the Dolphins' season is likely lost, perhaps they can put together a respectable second half.

No. 20: Trevor Lawrence - Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence enjoyed a bye week in Week 8. The Jaguars' offense has sputtered in recent weeks after a solid start. With a new head coach in town, the bye week could have provided a lot of time for Lawrence and Liam Coen to get on the same page.

No. 19: Caleb+Williams" data-id="24927">Caleb Williams - Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams has only thrown two touchdowns in the last four games. His inconsistencies as a quarterback are glaring this season. Williams and the Bears squandered a great chance to grab a win against a completely banged-up Ravens squad on Sunday.

No. 18: C.J. Stroud - Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud is finding himself once again. The Texans are putting together a solid season after a 0-3 start. The offense is finally putting consistent points on the board with Stroud leading the way. The division may be out of reach, but Houston could play itself into a Wild Card spot.

No. 17: Brock Purdy - San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy's return to the lineup continues to be teased. Mac Jones has performed admirably in his stead, but the luck ran out in Week 8. Purdy's return is looking more and more necessary with the opponents getting more buttoned up.

No. 16: Aaron Rodgers - Pittsburgh Steelers

Aaron Rodgers was under duress for much of the Steelers' Week 8 clash with the Packers. Rodgers continues to play solid ball, but Pittsburgh's defense is not supporting him.

No. 15: Jayden Daniels - Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels is set to re-enter the fold after sitting out in Week 8. The Commanders desperately need Daniels as they now sit at 3-5. We have seen Daniels work his magic, so hopefully he can propel this team on a winning streak.

No. 14: Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens pulled a switch on NFL fans when he was surprisingly ruled out for Week 8. Never fear, it appears that Jackson was about as ready as he could have been to play this past week, but the Ravens kept him out of an abundance of caution. Jackson should be back in Week 9 in a fantastic matchup against the Dolphins.

No. 13: Justin Herbert - Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert reasserted himself as a top quarterback in Week 8. Herbert and the Chargers lit up the Vikings all game long. With Herbert playing like he has been of late in spite of the offensive line woes, the Chargers can hang with any opponent.

No. 12: Bo Nix - Denver Broncos

Bo Nix enjoyed another successful outing on Sunday against the Broncos. Nix has clearly found his end-of-2024 form. With Nix and the Broncos' offense humming, the sky could truly be the limit for this team in 2025.

No. 11: Jordan Love - Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love is beloved by his teammates as he continues to deliver huge numbers in a healthy season. The sky is the limit for the 26-year-old, who just took down his mentor for the first three years of his career in Rodgers.

No. 10: Drake Maye - New England Patriots

Drake Maye continues to be the best second-year quarterback this season. With another three-touchdown game in Week 8, Maye finds himself amongst the leaders in all passing categories. The Patriots have found themselves a stud.

No. 9: Dak Prescott - Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense displayed their first cracks of the season in Week 8. The Broncos were too much to handle. Still, Prescott has played very well this season for the most part. He should bounce back from this loss without issue.

No. 8: Daniel Jones - Indianapolis Colts

Daniel Jones once again delivered for the Colts in Week 8. The Colts completely lit up the Titans' Swiss cheese defense this week. Jones played a near-flawless game with another three touchdown passes.

No. 7: Sam Darnold - Seattle Seahawks

Sam Darnold was on a bye in Week 8. He has been playing very good football this season in another reclamation year. Darnold looks like he is here to stay.

No. 6: Jalen Hurts - Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts has delivered with back-to-back stellar games as a passer. He has put to bed any negative chatter surrounding his abilities, at least for now. Hurts and the Eagles should only continue to ascend with a Week 9 bye on the horizon.

No. 5: Matthew Stafford - Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford and the Rams were on a bye in Week 8. Stafford continues to play at a high level late into his 30s. With Stafford healthy, this team can do a lot of damage in 2025.

No. 4: Baker Mayfield - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield struggled in Week 8 behind a faltering offensive line and with injuries to several weapons. Still, the Buccaneers boat raced the Saints on Sunday. The Bucs' Week 9 bye should allow a chance for the offense to get back on track.

No. 3: Jared Goff - Detroit Lions

Jared Goff enjoyed his bye week in Week 8. He has continued to play like one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Goff and the Lions will come out of the bye at home against the Vikings. Goff's track record of winning and producing gaudy stats on his home turf is nearly unrivaled in the league.

No. 2: Josh Allen - Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen set the record for the most games with at least one rushing touchdown and one passing touchdown by a quarterback in Week 8. It was a small part of a massive victory that saw the Bills recover from a two-game skid prior to their Week 7 bye.

No. 1: Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes has reclaimed his spot as the top quarterback in the league. He is playing at an MVP level, and he looks like he is having fun again. It turns out that when a quarterback has his weapons, he can play very well.
