Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter hasn't gotten off to a hot start to his career. While he's made a few nice catches and shown flashes of elite play, he's overall been very disappointing.
Flashes of production aren't what fantasy managers who drafted him inside the first seven rounds want from a player who was touted as a future star in the NFL, but Hunter was a raw prospect coming into the league.
Sometimes, even the best NFL players need time to develop in their rookie seasons. They also might be in situations that aren't great for high production. So should you drop Hunter?

Should I Drop Travis Hunter in Fantasy Football?
No. It makes little sense to drop him unless you're in a shallow league with shallow benches and have a lot of talent on your roster. Patience is key with rookie players. Hunter has yet to catch a touchdown or score double-digit PPR fantasy points in a game so far.
But that doesn't mean he won't. If he were a fourth-year veteran of the league, it would make a lot more sense, but playing in the league is hard, and he's a two-way player, meaning he has to split his time between offensive and defensive practice, film, and being coached. That's tough to handle.

Patience is key with rookies. We've seen plenty of examples of them being highly inconsistent, and sometimes just bad, before putting things together and being key fantasy contributors. Hunter has made excellent plays -- just not a lot of them. And the Jaguars offense has been rough overall.

Hunter's twitch in open space has made him a good option on short passing plays and screens, as he's often able to juke defenders out of their shoes and gain yards after the catch. More impressively, he's a beast at the catch point, and has already made multiple eye-popping, incredibly difficult downfield contested grabs.

The struggles of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence might cap Hunter's ceiling moving forward. Such is life for many receivers in the NFL. That doesn't mean he shouldn't be rostered, though. After all, we've seen wide receivers like Brian Thomas Jr. and Kendrick Bourne have massive production with backup QB Mac Jones.
Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?
At the receiver position, if you're looking for additional help, you might consider grabbing Atlanta Falcons WR Darnell Mooney (hamstring). He's dealt with multiple injuries this season, but he has great production in his very recent history.

Mooney has been a thorn in the side of fantasy managers of Drake London when healthy. He's commanded an excellent target share and put together a very nice season in 2024, though it was interrupted by injuries, the benching of the team's quarterback, and yet more injuries.
Mooney's health is the biggest issue with him as a player right now, because his game is excellent. Another WR you could add is Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quad) who's likely to return to play this week. The Panthers are in desperate need of receiving help -- Tetairoa McMillan is their only real threat right now.

Coker should earn a pretty healthy target share when back. The passing offense will likely be heavily concentrated on he and McMillan.
