Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Football Injury Update
Contrary to what most fans and analysts expected, the Colts started the game with a pass-first approach with their new QB, Daniel Jones, as Taylor only had one carry on the team's opening drive of the game.

His workload gradually increased, as the offense just couldn't stop scoring. Taylor's 15-yard run near the end of the first half set up a field goal attempt, which was successfully converted and put Indy up front 20-0.
By stringing together a bunch of short-to-medium runs, Taylor was on his way to a 100-yard outing. But he seemingly got hurt near the end of the third, as he left the game and rookie RB DJ Giddens took over as the main ball carrier to end the game.
Fortunately, Taylor's injury is not believed to be serious.
Is Jonathan Taylor Playing in Week 2?
According to James Boyd of The Athletic, Indianapolis HC Shane Steichen told reporters that his superstar RB "is fine" and that his injury was a hit to his neck area.
Few Steichen notes:
-Said Jonathan Taylor could have returned. Score impacted that. JT took a hit to neck area late 3Q and didn’t return.
-JT Tuimoloau inactive. Colts wanted “more DTs” Week 1. Colts dressed 5 DTs vs. 4 DEs

He then added that Taylor could've gone back into the game, but considering their 23-0 lead at the time of his exit, it was better to keep him rested. This is a huge relief for Colts fans, as they can sleep well at night knowing their star RB is healthy.
Most of Taylor's previous injuries have been ankle-related, so this was a freak hit and is unlikely to cause any long-term problems.
Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 2
The Colts will stay in Indianapolis after their dominant Week 1 showing, as they will get ready to host the Denver Broncos. Jonathan Taylor performs significantly better at home (5.15 yards per attempt) than away from home (4.58).

Additionally, Taylor averaged 4.9 more PPR points at home than on the road in 2024. Denver had the third-best rushing defense in the league last year; however, Taylor had a memorable 107-yard run against them in Week 15, where he infamously dropped the football while celebrating a would-be touchdown.
The Broncos will be prepared, as they suffocated Tony Pollard and the Titans' run game last week. But Taylor is at home, and with that costly turnover last season still on his mind, is ready to have a vintage performance.
