Who Should I Draft? Tyrone Tracy Jr., Cam Skattebo, Devin Singletary Fantasy Football Outlooks

Tyrone Tracy Jr. - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Is Tyrone Tracy Jr., Cam Skattebo, or Devin Singletary the RB1 for the Texans? Should you draft Tracy, Skattebo, or Singletary in 2025 fantasy football drafts? John's expert draft analysis and advice.

The New York Giants' top three running backs -- Tyrone Tracy Jr., Cam Skattebo, and Devin Singletary -- are who fantasy managers are considering drafting in fantasy football leagues in 2025. Two of these players are more exciting than the third one, but that's beside the point.

Tracy had a ... well, sort of a breakout season in 2024. He took over the backfield work from Singletary, who became largely irrelevant. Tracy logged two games of over 20 PPR fantasy points, but was wildly inconsistent, often scoring in the single digits.

Skattebo is a rookie, so he hasn't played a down yet, but he put up big numbers in his final season in college. That likely drove the Giants to use a fourth-round pick on him in the 2025 NFL Draft. So, which of these three backs will be the best player to pick in fantasy football this year? Let's dive in!

Editor's Note: The FFPC Baby Gorilla Tournament is now open, featuring a $100,000 grand prize and a $675,450 total prize pool! This 12-team, Tight End Premium contest uses a 20-round draft format, with the overall winners determined by total points scored during Weeks 15–17. Tyrone Tracy Jr. Fantasy Football Outlook

Tracy's rookie season was marked equally by explosive rushes and awful mistakes. He averaged under 4.4 yards per carry, but it was tough sledding behind a poor offensive line. More concerning were his five fumbles in just under 250 touches, which resulted in two turnovers.

He also dropped six passes, despite having played receiver in college. This could cap his future receiving upside, as the team might be more reluctant to throw the ball his way on crucial third downs. To make matters worse, Tracy had horrible mishaps in pass protection that caused his quarterback to get blasted by the opposing defense's pass rushes.

It doesn't look like Tracy will lose his RB1 job to Skattebo anytime soon, but he has major work to do as a receiver and pass protector. He had a miserly 40.6 Pro Football Focus receiving grade and 35.1 pass blocking grade. He has areas of his game he needs to clean up.

Tracy is, in my mind, a good overall runner, and if he can clean up his drops, he could make a bigger impact as a receiver. And the athletic gap between him and Skattebo is pretty significant. Skattebo is a slow, lumbering back, and while he was able to bull over a lot of tacklers in college, that running style is tough to succeed with in the NFL.

I agree with fantasy analyst Dan Schneier. This backfield likely belongs to Tracy this season. While the Giants offense isn't likely to fly very high this season, Tracy could have higher upside if he develops his game further, but that remains to be seen. Even if he doesn't, he has appeal as an RB3 or flex player in most redraft leagues.

Cam Skattebo Fantasy Football Outlook

Skattebo had plenty of hype coming out of college and after he was drafted by the Giants. A hamstring injury that he's recently recovered from and a lack of positive news coming out of camp for him have cooled this hype considerably, as has the mega hype train that Washington Commanders running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt has gained.

Skattebo's lack of raw athleticism is the biggest concern I have with him. According to my analysis, it's disqualifyingly bad. No matter how powerful you are as a running back, if you're not very fast, it's incredibly difficult for you to succeed.

Skattebo reportedly ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash (hand-timed) ahead of the draft. That's bad. Generally, hand-timed 40s are much faster than laser-timed 40s, as peer-reviewed research indicates. Human reaction time takes away time from the 40.

Skattebo didn't run the 40 at the 2025 combine because he knew it would be bad. That's what slow players tend to do, like WR Tetairoa McMillan. There is no reason not to run the 40 at the combine unless you know it will make you look bad. Skattebo is probably a 4.7 guy, which is just too slow.

I'm not drafting him in any leagues, and that's unlikely to change. There's a requisite level of athleticism needed to be a good running back in the NFL. Very few who are as slow as Skattebo have consistent success. Sometimes teams make mistakes in drafting players, and I think Skattebo was a mistake.

Devin Singletary Fantasy Football Outlook

He's not getting his job back. Tracy is more explosive and a better tackle-breaker than Singletary is. Singletary will likely compete with Skattebo for the RB2 job, and those two are much closer in talent than either is to Tracy. Singletary has been usurped as the RB1 everywhere he's played so far.

There's a reason for that, of course, and it's that he's not very good. He did have a high forced missed tackle rate in his first few games with the Giants before he lost his RB1 job. Therein lies the problem with Skattebo -- if you're slow, you can break a lot of tackles and still be a mediocre running back.

Even as a handcuff to Tracy, he's not a particularly good player to draft. Last season, he would have likely been a workhorse back had Tracy suffered a season-ending injury. But this season, the Giants will at least be motivated to give plenty of work to Skattebo to see what the rookie has.

Who Should You Draft in Fantasy Football?

Tracy is the clear best pick here, even if he's more expensive. While some players can outplay their ADP easily, if you're drafting a player in the 14th round and he outperforms the average 12th-round pick, you still don't have a player who's worth having on your roster.

Swing for the fences when you draft players in the late rounds. At a position like running back, this doesn't involve taking slow, unathletic running backs on bad offenses with bad offensive lines and an offensive coaching staff that hasn't had much success in recent years.
