Dylan Crews Nearing Rehab Assignment
Dylan Crews (oblique) is ramping up activities as he works back from a strained right oblique, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Crews threw for the first time in seven weeks on Wednesday, and he participated in defensive drills before the Nationals' game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. While Crews isn't quite ready to take on-field batting practice, interim manager Miguel Cairo is confident that the 23-year-old will start a rehab assignment in the minors either a bit before or a little after the All-Star break. Crews, who last played May 20, got off to a slow start with the bat before landing on the injured list. He has hit .196/.266/.354 with seven homers, 15 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 11 steals in 173 plate appearances this season.
