Erik Swanson Set For Further Evaluation
Erik Swanson (forearm) is headed back to Toronto to undergo further evaluation. The reliever was set to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday but was scratched due to a setback. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status as the team could opt to slow down his recovery process if his forearm has not fully healed. Swanson has been sidelined with carpal tunnel syndrome in his forearm. Last season, the 31-year-old battled injuries, logging just 39 1/3 innings of work. However, during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Swanson was a reliable high-leverage option in the Toronto bullpen. During these two years, he held a 2.23 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and tallied 43 holds. When he does make his season debut, he should reclaim a high-leverage role in the bullpen.
