Spencer Torkelson Sitting For First Time This Year
Spencer Torkelson will get his first day off of the season in Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Houston Astros. Colt Keith will shift to first base and bat fifth, while outfielder Kerry Carpenter handles the DH duties and hits leadoff against Astros right-hander A.J. Blubaugh. Torkelson will get his first day of rest in 2025 after going 4-for-31 in his last nine games. However, the former first overall pick in 2020 out of Arizona State has provided fantasy managers with plenty of production through the first month of the season, hitting .243 (26-for-107) with eight home runs, 24 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 30 games played. He should be back for Thursday's series opener against the Los Angeles Angels. Nobody in Detroit's starting nine on Wednesday has faced Blubaugh.
