Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) suffered an MCL sprain during their Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Shortly after this game, Dobbins was deemed week-to-week and was eventually placed on the injured reserve. While sidelined, Gus Edwards has taken over the starting duties.

Is J.K. Dobbins Out For The Season?
As of now, Dobbins has not been officially ruled out for the remainder of the season but does face an uphill battle to return in time for the final week of the fantasy playoffs. Dobbins is eligible to return in Week 17, which is typically the final week of the fantasy football playoffs in most formats.

Given this short window, the 26-year-old cannot face any type of setback to be eligible to return for the fantasy championships. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor his practice status over the next week, as that will likely provide clarity on his potential availability.
Before the injury, Dobbins was shaping up to be a league-winner for whoever took a late flier on him in drafts, as he averaged 15.1 PPR points per game with eight scores across 11 games. He averaged 4.8 yards per carry and averaged just over 80.0 total yards per contest.

While sidelined, veteran Gus Edwards has taken over the starting role but has been quite underwhelming. Across his previous three games, Edwards averaged just 30.3 rushing yards per game at a mere 3.8 yards per attempt. Given his struggles, fantasy managers looking for an upside play should consider stashing rookie Kimani Vidal, as he has averaged a slightly higher 4.2 yards per carry during this stretch.
In addition, given their position in the current AFC playoff picture, Dobbins could have a path to return to action in Week 17, as the Chargers may need to win two out of their last three to clinch a playoff position.
For now, fantasy managers should continue to hold Dobbins on their roster as he may arrive just in time to lead you to a championship in Week 17, facing the New England Patriots, who have allowed the 11th-most PPR points to opposing running backs.
