Will Levis is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for quarterbacks. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Having a passer rating over 100 in your first-ever NFL game is a pretty impressive thing to do. Former number-one overall picks and Heisman winners Carson Palmer and Cam Newton achieved this feat, as did other signal callers like Roger Staubach, Dan Marino, Marc Bulger, Robert Griffin III, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, and Matt Ryan. Now, Will Levis has joined this exclusive club.
Among these QBs, Levis, Tarkenton, and RG3 are at the top of this list while throwing at least 23 passes. If you increase the criteria to 27+ attempts, Levis stands alone at the top of this list with his 130.5 passer rating on 29 attempts. The next closest QB is Kelly with a 119.8 passer rating on 33 attempts.

Levis' play was a much-needed spark for a Titans team that had lost two in a row by that point and needed every bit of Levis' 4 touchdown passes to stay in the game against the Falcons and grab the crucial win to keep Tennessee's playoff hopes alive.
Levis' debut came about due to an injury to incumbent starter Ryan Tannehill and the poor play of backup Malik Willis. With Tannehill still injured, Levis can use this opportunity to cement himself as the QB1, as Tannehill has had the second-worst passer rating among starting QBs (71.9), only slightly better than Daniel Jones (71.7).
Looking at Tennessee's schedule, Levis will be tested in the coming weeks, as he will face great defenses in the Steelers (12th in the least points allowed per drive), the Buccaneers (11th), and the Jaguars (eighth) in the next three weeks. But things will get better from Week 12 to Week 14 with games against the Panthers (31st), the Colts (23rd), and the Dolphins (25th).
We also shouldn't forget that the Falcons, who were torched by Levis, have a pretty good defense too (ninth in the least points allowed per drive), so it wouldn't be fair to automatically assume that Levis will struggle in the next three weeks. Levis can be a sneaky good option for QB-needy fantasy managers if you manage to stream him smartly.
