Worlds DFS Predictions & DFS Plays - Main Event Day 2

We have eight matchups again today, so that makes for a very strong player pool in DFS!

1:00 AM: NRG (+100) vs. TL (-138)

Here we get a rematch of the loser brackets finals during the 2023 LCS Championship, where NRG came out victorious 3-2. This was a very tight series, and as I mentioned for the day 1 slate, TL tends to die a ton in losses. NRG averaged 18.67 Kills while TL averaged 16.5 during their wins in their reset 5-game series. After watching yesterday's matches, TL was quite impressive and had a great chance to upset T1 if it wasn't for Yeon's passivity. While NRG suffered a suffocating loss to WBG, as predicted yesterday. I really like the way Team Liquid looked yesterday, and Pyosik's experience from last year could come in the clutch on the big stage (let's just hope it doesn't come down to a smite!). Don't be afraid to play both sides with how affordable both teams are.

Prediction: TL Win

Top TL plays: Yeon, Pyosik, Team Slot (all pieces viable because of price but these are my favorite pieces)
Top NRG plays: FBI, Palafox, Ignar (all pieces viable because of price but these are my favorite pieces)

2:00 AM: C9 (+400) vs. LNG (-700)

C9 had a solid showing vs MAD Lions, but I don't think I saw anything that would have me think they could pull an upset here. LNG on the other hand, had some of the best scores on Day 1, and should build upon that again. They feel like the safest favorite on the slate once again, however come at the steepest prices!

Prediction: LNG Win

Top LNG plays: GALA, Scout, Tarzan (all pieces are viable but hefty prices. Very good 1-off pieces if the stack is too rich)

3:00 AM: MAD (-125) vs. BDS (-110)

Rematch of the 2023 LEC Spring Playoffs Finals where MAD defeated BDS 3-2. This matchup on paper should be competitive and bloody. MAD surprisingly was in the CKPM (combined kills per minute) game on the slate, something you usually don't normally associate with them. I do question if MAD was a little nervous versus C9, as there is a weird added pressure of EU>NA. BDS is already settled into the Worlds Meta and with the unique picks that Adam has in his arsenal (even if he draws bans, I think that is still a plus for BDS), I think it better suits them for a best-of-1 clash with MAD. On paper, both sides would score well in a win!

Prediction: BDS Win

Top BDS plays: Crownie, Nuc, Sheo

4:00 AM: FNC (-400) vs. GAM (+275)

This is another matchup that on paper should score really well. Both teams in their losses gave up 22 kills, and I think that could repeat. Noah continues to be the best-looking piece for FNC and I think he has the capability to carry them to victory. I think FNC end up winning, however, I don't know if they in great enough form to be priced as -400 favorites. Stacking versus FNC always seems to be a solid strategy, and a bold take like that could differentiate you from the competition if you play GAM today who are priced next to the likes of T1, BLG & DK.  Also good to note, that this will be Oscarinin's second game back from his hand surgery.

Prediction: FNC Win

Top FNC plays: Noah, Razork

5:00 AM: GEN.G (-225) vs. T1 (+162)

Another regional H2H that saw a lot of intense matchups so far this year. Both these teams clashed at both the 2023 Springs & 2023 Summer semis/finals, with GEN.G victorious in 3 of the 4 times. With the way GEN.G dealt with their lesser opponent on Day 1, I have to side with them today. Both of these teams know this is a big win, and this game can in true LCK form can be very reserved or surprisingly very scrappy. T1 did look a little vulnerable vs Team Liquid, which I think if that happens again, T1 will be forced to scratch and claw out a victory which would lead to a better CKPM. T1 being as priced as low as GAM is pretty wild, so I think they could be one of the more popular dogs today!

Prediction: GEN.G Win

Top GEN.G plays: Peyz, Peanut, Chovy (all pieces are viable but hefty prices)

6:00 AM: G2 (+125) vs. WBG (-175)

G2 is coming off an impressive showing vs DK. They were able to identify DK's weaknesses and their game plan was impeccable. They were able to punish Canna & Kellin throughout the match, which led to Hans Sama taking over the game. I think G2 must punish TheShy to have a chance in this match as WBG is a very good and methodical team. As we saw vs NRG, WBG is very good at suffocating their opponents. However, I do believe that G2's skill level is far beyond NRGs, so this will be a bigger test for Weibo. WBG doesn't die a ton in their losses, however, G2 showed amazing kill participation in their victory.

Prediction: WBG Win

Top WBG plays: Light, Xiaohu, Team Slot

7:00 AM: JDG (-275) vs. BLG (+200)

This should be very fun to watch as it is the Summer 2023 LPL Semis rematch, MSI 2023 Finals rematch & Spring 2023 LPL Finals rematch. All 3 results ended in JDG victories. Since this is best of 1 format, I think both are equally appealing here, and we know that their matches can get bloody quickly. I do think that JDG just has BLG's number, so I do side with them here. With the price disparity, and with BLG being optimal last night, I think they are VERY popular! If you play JDG in DFS, a nice little hedge is BLG at +200, which is great value in a best-of-1 for a team of their caliber.

Prediction: JDG Win

Top JDG plays: All players (Prioritize Knight & Kanavi)
Top BLG plays: All players (Prioritize Elk)

8:00 AM: DK (+137) vs. KT (-188)

This is a very important match for both these teams. These teams never met up in the LCK playoffs or regional finals, however, KT did win both Summer H2H matchups 2-0. KT was one of the best LCK teams over the entire year, and I think they bounce back here. I believe KT have a much better upside, and I don't think DK can replicate the scores that BLG put up on Day 1. KT knows what worked for them vs DK during the 2023 LCK splits, and I expect them to fall back on that! Do not be afraid to 1-off the KT win condition himself, Aiming!

Prediction: KT Win

Top KT plays: Aiming!!!

Summary

  1. TLDR: A bunch of great teams are priced pretty cheap today, including the team that won someone 20k on Day, BLG. On the flip side, JDG should still once again draw ownership as well.
  2. GPP Stacks: My favorite team which offers a safe floor and incredible upside, remains to be LNG. Don't be afraid to 1-off Aiming, who gets to face DK, who just allowed Hans Sama 9 kills!
  3. Cash Stacks: I don't recommend cash for best-of-1 slates, especially with how much-added variance we get with eight Bo1s (versus five that we typically see on a LEC or LCS slate).
