The Los Angeles Chargers drafted wide receiver Joshua Palmer in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Over the years, his role has become much more significant on the team as the Chargers continue to deal with injuries to their star players.

Mike Williams tore his ACL in Week 3 and is out for the season. Although the team drafted Quentin Johnston in the first round of this year's draft, it seems like Palmer will be the WR2 for the Chargers behind Kennan Allen.

In four games so far this season, Joshua Palmer has recorded 11 receptions for 160 yards and has scored one touchdown on 11 targets. He is averaging 40 yards per game and 7.62 yards per target.

His targets have eventually increased after Mike Williams' injury, and Justin Herbert targeted him eight times in Week 4. Palmer didn't disappoint in Week 4, as he recorded three receptions for 77 yards, a touchdown, and made a big play to seal the win for his team against the Raiders.

With Keenan Allen getting most of the defensive attention and Johnston still working his way into the Chargers' system, the stage is set for Palmer to exploit opponents and have big games. In the past two weeks, he has recorded 20.3 points in the PPR scoring system.

With how things currently shake out for the Chargers, Joshua Palmer is an ideal pickup off the waiver wire in fantasy football. His usage is likely to increase in the coming weeks, and with the team relying more on Justin Herbert's arm to win, his receivers are likely to perform well.

Herbert did suffer an injury to his left arm in Week 4, but it's unlikely to sideline him. Moreover, Austin Ekeler could possibly be back to play in Week 5, and it will further open up the opposition's defenses for Palmer to make big plays.

In the last two weeks, Palmer has been ranked #23 among the WRs in PPR scoring leagues, and he will possibly leapfrog many other receivers in the coming weeks.
