ANALYSIS: Sal Frelick is the latest high-profile prospect to be called up. He's the second-ranked prospect in the Brewers farm system and the No. 17 prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline. His 2023 numbers aren't very exciting, carrying a .251/.344/.353 slash line through 43 games in Triple-A. That said, a thumb injury has hindered him for most of the season, and Frelick's larger track record speaks to his potential.

Frelick boasts a career .314/.393/.451 slash line through 197 minor league games. He carries a 70-grade hit tool and 70-grade running ability. That includes just 15 home runs, though an 11.7% strikeout rate and 44 stolen bases highlight his upside. The hope is that Frelick's power will continue to develop, but his advanced approach at the plate should translate into a high batting average.
