BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 20% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: You have to dig a bit deeper to find Zay Jones' value but only once you look at the finer details will you realize how valuable he is for someone available in four of every five Yahoo leagues. Jones' case as a WW target could be built entirely on the poor health of the Jaguars' receivers, but that's not even necessary.
Jamal Agnew and Marvin Jones Jr. either missed Sunday's game entirely or got injured while playing in it. Christian Kirk and Zay Jones escaped that fate though, logging 58 and 62 snaps each (near 100% snap share for both). That's new and encouraging for Zay Jones, who over the first five games had lost quite some ground to Kirk on a playing time basis: 66% snap share for Jones against Kirk's 93%.
Zay Jones, even appearing in 86 fewer snaps than Kirk through Week 6, has logged only seven fewer targets over the season to date. Jones, even though only having one touchdown to Kirk's four, is averaging 11.1 PPR points per game to Kirk's 14.0 while having a slightly lower week-to-week volatility.
Not a lot of GMs will be targeting Jones ahead of Week 7 as he's coming off back-to-back underperforming outings of just 4.2 and 9.2 PPR points respectively. The truth is that, even then, Jones has seen at least 4+ targets in all games he's played and 5+ in four of those five matches.
Zay Jones went 5-for-5 this past Sunday and has a catch rate of 73% this season (other than in his 3-of-8 Week 5, he's caught at least 75% of the targets he's been thrown every week or 4+ passes in all of those games).
Adding and playing Jones is not the safest of moves, but it's definitely one for smart GMs out there trying to find an edge and buying on the very low with upside for a great ROI if things click and the Jags realize who their true pass-catching weapon this season, at least on an opportunity basis.
