BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 10% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I guess the New York Jets will never change. The Jets are the mediocre team you would have always guessed (2-2 record with four games in the books, the two victories by a combined five-point margin) but they finally got to start someone at quarterback that (still) excites the crowd present at MetLife Stadium: second-year quarterback Zach Wilson.
Joe Flacco was the man tasked with starting for the Jets through Week 3 while Wilson recovered from an injury suffered in the Jets' training camp. That little run finally came to an end on Sunday with Wilson's first start of the season. Let me tell you, Wilson delivered a very Jets-like game but one good enough to consider rostering him in deep and 2QB/Superflex leagues.
What I mean by that is that Wilson completed exactly 50% of his pass attempts (18-of-36) for 252 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Most ridiculous of all is the fact that Wilson scored another touchdown yesterday...on a two-yard reception off a trick play ending in a pass by WR Braxton Berrios. You read that right.
Remove those unsustainable (and unrepeatable) six fantasy points from Wilson's final tally of 20.8 FP, and of course, things wouldn't be looking so good for him (he would have gone from QB10 to QB20). Even then, Wilson seems to be building off the second half of his rookie season.
Last year, debuting in the NFL, Wilson only scored a total 57.9 FP (9.7 FPPG) in the W1-to-W7 span but then came back in W12 and averaged a much better 14.4 FPPG for a total of 100.9 FP over the final seven games of the season. Some 15-to-17 FPPG are a reasonable ask for Wilson to finish 2022 with and that'd have him at the high end of the QB2 realm weekly.
