ANALYSIS: With closer Jordan Romano and fellow reliever Erik Swanson starting the season on the 15-day IL, Yimi Garcia could be in line for a handful of save opportunities for the Blue Jays early on. The 33-year-old saved three games for the Jays last season while recording a 4.09 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a 79:15 K:BB over 66 IP.

Chad Green will supposedly be in the mix too, but Green has just 17 IP and one save over the last two seasons combined, so it seems Garcia would be more adept in high-leverage situations at this point in both of their careers. Garcia had a much more effective spring, too, with a 2.00 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and nine K in nine IP compared to Green's 8.22 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 11 K in seven and two-thirds IP. However, with Romano and Swanson not expected to be out long, managers would be wise not to overspend on a rental.
