Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 9:
Bam Knight, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Before Arizona's Week 8 bye, Knight had recorded 118 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 29 touches across his last two games. He'll likely split backfield snaps to some degree with Emari Demercado in Week 9, but Knight profiles as the early-down and goal-line back.
The Cowboys have allowed the third-most rushing yards (1,168) in the NFL this season. Knight should be viewed as a low-end fantasy RB2 heading into Week 9.
Kareem Hunt, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
The veteran back has been relatively effective in his last two games, averaging at least 4.4 yards per carry, but he's still only averaging 4.0 yards per carry on the season. Despite his lack of explosiveness, the Chiefs have turned to Hunt near the goal line, and he has converted on four rushing touchdowns. Hunt should continue to get those valuable touches while adding volume between the 20s against the Bills, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.
There should be plenty og points scored in a game with a nearly 53-point total, so Hunt's upside is apparent. Hunt is ranked RB20 in our RofoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him a startable RB2 this week.
Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts
The 24-year-old is now dealing with a hip injury as the team prepares to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9, but his return to practice on Thursday means he's trending in the right direction. Downs has been the team's WR2 in healthy in a much-improved offense led by MVP candidate Daniel Jones in 2025.
If Downs gets cleared to play in Pittsburgh this Sunday, he'll certainly have WR3 upside against a Steelers secondary that has not performed up to expectations this year.
Wan'Dale Robinson, WR, New York Giants
The 49ers defense, while strong against scoring (8th in points against), is the 21st-ranked fantasy defense versus wide receivers, allowing a generous 33.81 fantasy points per game. Notably, San Francisco struggles to generate pressure (31st in sacks), which benefits quarterback Jaxson Dart and gives Robinson more time to separate.
Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans
Spears finished with 17.2 fantasy points, marking the third straight game of having over seven fantasy points. Heading into Week 9, Spears has a friendly matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, who have allowed the sixth-most yards per carry (4.9) and the second-most rushing touchdowns (10) this season. Spears has averaged 5.5 yards per carry since returning from a high-ankle sprain and has earned more touches each week as he's gotten further away from his injury.
The third-year running back has an opportunity to stack back-to-back strong performances and become the number one option in a talent-hungry offense. Spears is an RB3 heading into Week 9 with a favorable matchup and is a reliable flex option for fantasy managers.
