Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 10:
J.J. McCarthy, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy is coming off the best victory of his young career last week against Detroit, and can be considered a quality Superflex option when the Baltimore Ravens travel to U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 10.
The second-year quarterback completed only 14 passes for 143 yards last week, but made several key plays that spurred the Vikings to victory by accounting for three touchdowns and sealing the game with a perfect throw on a late third-down conversion. He'll take on a Baltimore defense that is allowing points on 48% of drives, which ranks 28th of 32 teams, but has played much better recently, as none of the past three Baltimore opponents surpassed 17 points.
McCarthy is still acclimating to being the full-time starter, so it's reasonable to expect some mistakes along the way, but the Week 9 victory gave plenty of reasons for optimism that he can be a fantasy-relevant quarterback as he gains additional experience.
Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert enters Week 10 aiming to maintain his efficient performance against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has shown vulnerabilities through the air. Despite Pittsburgh ranking last in passing yards allowed per game and 27th in fantasy points per dropback on deep passes, they recently improved by beating the league's top offense, the Indianapolis Colts, last week.
Herbert's protection remains a significant concern, with tackle Joe Alt out for the season, and the Chargers trading for the inconsistent yet necessary Trevor Penning. The offensive line, which allowed six sacks last week, has forced Herbert (who already leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards) to use his legs to extend plays and gain yardage.
After a solid 250-yard, three-touchdown performance, Herbert's efficiency and rushing floor make him a strong start. RotoBaller projects Herbert as QB5 this week, and he remains a high-end QB1.
Justin Fields, QB, New York Jets
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is refusing to announce his starting quarterback for Sunday's Week 10 contest against the Cleveland Browns, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. "We'll have a quarterback," Glenn said. The first-year head coach wouldn't even say if he hopes to get to a point where there's an entrenched starter.
Cimini writes that Justin Fields is expected to "get the nod" on Sunday after leading the Jets to their first win of the year before their Week 9 bye. Fields probably gives New York its best chance of winning a second straight game over veteran Tyrod Taylor, and he certainly gives fantasy managers more upside as a QB2.
However, nothing is official, and Fields won't be all that attractive as a QB2 streamer in fantasy lineups this weekend if he makes another start against a very capable Browns defense that is also coming off a bye.
Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions
Through eight games so far this season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for 1,915 yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions. The 31-year-old has tossed multiple touchdown passes in five out of eight contests and is currently averaging eight yards per pass attempt. In Week 10, Goff gets a favorable matchup on paper against the Washington Commanders.
Through nine weeks, Washington ranks last in the NFL in yards per pass attempt allowed (8.8) and 29th in passing touchdowns allowed (19). The Commanders also lost top cornerback Marshon Lattimore (knee) to a season-ending ACL tear in Week 9.
If there's reason for concern for Goff, it's the Lions' struggles on the offensive line. Goff has been sacked 14 times over his last four games after taking just four sacks over his first four outings. Still, Goff profiles as a low-end fantasy QB1 against Washington in Week 10.
Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has been one of the most exciting comeback players of the year, throwing for 2,404 yards, 14 touchdowns, and six interceptions while rushing for five scores on the ground.
That being said, he turned in his worst game of the season in a Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, throwing one touchdown and three picks. Jones will look to bounce back against the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin, Germany in Week 10.
The Falcons have been a tough challenge for quarterbacks in 2025, allowing just the 27th-most fantasy points per game to the position. That being said, Jones has been a reliable fantasy option almost every week and can be trusted as a low-end QB1 in Week 10.
