Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 10:
Chris Rodriguez Jr., RB, Commanders
Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. is coming off his best game of the season in Week 9 against the Seahawks and has been named a team captain for Sunday's matchup against the Detroit Lions. Rodriguez recorded a season-high 12 carries for 65 yards and his second touchdown of the season last week against Seattle and is expected to see more work in Week 10.
The third-year back out of Kentucky has consistently run hard when given opportunities. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury praised Rodriguez when speaking with the media on Friday, saying, "We have to take what's blocked," and adding that Rodriguez "did a really nice job" of doing that and has "played at a high level" whenever the team has needed him to step up.
The 25-year-old should be in line to at least split early down carries with rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt, with the potential to take on more if he continues to run well while veteran Jeremy McNichols handles pass-down responsibilities. Rodriguez is in flex consideration in deeper leagues for Week 10 against the Detroit Lions.
AJ Barner, TE, Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner should be viewed as a potential streaming option in deeper leagues as he takes on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10. The 23-year-old is the overall TE18 in PPR leagues this year, totaling 21 catches, 236 yards, and four touchdowns. He is the Seahawks' top pass-catching tight end and has played more than 80 percent of the snaps in most of his games, but his volume has been inconsistent this year.
For the most part, his fantasy value has been dependent on finding the end zone. Barner gets a solid matchup on Sunday, facing a Cardinals defense that has allowed the seventh-most catches and eighth-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends in 2025.
Furthermore, while Arizona ranks near the middle of the league in touchdowns surrendered to the position, it did allow Barner to find the end zone when the Seahawks and Cardinals faced off in Week 4. Barner should continue to rank as a mid-to-high TE2 with a low floor and modest ceiling.
Emari Demercado, RB, Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado led the team in rushing in their Week 9 win over the Dallas Cowboys, handling 14 carries for 79 yards. Demercado's role for Week 10, however, is still uncertain after head coach Jonathan Gannon has provided no insight whatsoever into their plans for how they will manage the backfield on Sunday in Seattle.
Arizona's backfield has been a nightmare for fantasy managers to figure out recently, but Demercado provides some element of explosiveness and big-play ability that Bam Knight and Michael Carter don't offer. Knight has maintained the slight upper hand on snaps in recent weeks, while Carter has slid to the RB3 role. Demercado has the most juice as a receiver out of the backfield, which is an area that Seattle has struggled with this season, allowing the second-most receptions (48) to opposing running backs.
It's tough to know for certain, but Knight and Demercado project to split most of the touches on Sunday, with Knight on early downs and Demercado on pass downs.
Jake Tonges, TE, 49ers
San Francisco 49ers fourth-year tight end Jake Tonges filled in admirably while teammate George Kittle missed five games with a hamstring injury. However, since Kittle's return, Tonges has seen a total of 16 offensive snaps over the past three weeks. And while he did catch a two-yard touchdown in Week 8, it came on his lone target over that same timeframe.
While Kittle has yet to top 4 targets or 45 yards since returning, Tonges no longer appears to have any role in this offense and can confidently be dropped by the select few fantasy managers who might still be holding him. Kittle remains an every-week starter, while the hope remains that the eventual return of quarterback Brock Purdy will put him right back into the weekly TE1 conversation.
