Fantasy Football Drop Candidates

Read the recent news and fantasy outlooks of some of the top cut candidates:

Tyquan Thornton, WR - KC (Cut List Ranking No. 8)

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton was the team's primary explosive deep threat earlier this season when the Chiefs were without Xavier Worthy due to a shoulder injury and Rashee Rice due to a suspension. From Weeks 2 through 5, Thornton caught 11 of his 21 targets for 231 yards and three touchdowns. He played over 70% of the offensive snaps for the second straight week in Sunday night's win over the Detroit Lions, but Thornton was not targeted at all.

While the 25-year-old has been a key piece of the offense this year, fantasy managers should expect his snap counts to drop considerably now that Rashee Rice is ready to make his 2025 debut in Week 7 against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs are expected to use Rice heavily right away, too, so with Worthy also back, Thornton is fading into a depth role in KC.

Hassan Haskins, RB - LAC (Cut List Ranking No. 5)

Despite being named the team's starter leading up to their win against the Miami Dolphins last weekend, Los Angeles Chargers running back Hassan Haskins took a backseat to teammate Kimani Vidal. It was never assumed that the 25-year-old would absorb all of LA's backfield work in Omarion Hampton's (ankle) absence, but Vidal took the opportunity and ran with it.

Haskins was out-touched 21-7, out-gained 139-23, and out-snapped 43-20. The Chargers could opt to even out the distribution of backfield touches moving forward. Still, Vidal has the hot hand currently, and figures to get another crack at running away with the starting job in Sunday's home outing with the Indianapolis Colts. Haskins can't be trusted for fantasy, but he's on the radar as the handcuff to own in Los Angeles for the time being.

Calvin Ridley, WR - TEN (Cut List Ranking No. 19)

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley (hamstring) was not seen at practice on Thursday, according to Turron Davenport of ESPN. It will be Ridley's second straight missed practice this week after he came down with a hamstring injury in the Week 6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Unless he can practice on Friday, Ridley will most likely be ruled out for the Week 7 tilt against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

With Ridley trending towards an inactive this weekend, rookie Elic Ayomanor is trending up as a fantasy flex play in Week 7. In addition to Ayomanor, veteran Van Jefferson and tight ends Chig Okonwko and Gunnar Helm should be more involved in the passing attack if Ridley is officially inactive. Ridley has not shown much chemistry with rookie quarterback Cameron Ward so far in 2025 and could have to wait until Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts to try for his first touchdown of the season.

Chris Godwin, WR - TB (Cut List Ranking No. 22)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (leg) is not on the practice field with the rest of the team on Thursday, per the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud. Head coach Todd Bowles said on Monday that Godwin is "not in play" to be active for the team's Week 7 tilt on Monday night against the Detroit Lions due to a fibula injury that kept him out of the Week 6 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Tampa could be getting Mike Evans (hamstring) back this week, but along with Godwin, both wideout Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) and running back Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) are expected to be out. The 29-year-old Godwin didn't make his 2025 debut until Week 4 after recovering from a dislocated ankle that he suffered in Week 7 of last year. Now he's dealing with a fibula injury that could keep him sidelined beyond Week 7.

Health issues and the quick emergence of Egbuka have cratered Godwin's fantasy value so far this year.

David Njoku, TE - CLE (Cut List Ranking No. 24)

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) is not on the practice field for Thursday's session, according to Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. Njoku injured his knee in the Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and has now missed the first two practices this week, putting him on track to miss Sunday's Week 7 contest versus the Miami Dolphins.

He will need to get back on the practice field on Friday to have any chance of playing this weekend. Njoku hasn't been a strong TE1 play in 2025 in fantasy football because of the presence of impressive rookie TE Harold Fannin Jr. Even though the 29-year-old's injury doesn't appear to be a serious one, he could miss at least one week.

If he does not suit up on Sunday, his next chance to play would come in Week 8 against the New England Patriots. Fannin will be a clear TE1 asset for fantasy managers against Miami if Njoku sits.
