Van Jefferson is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for wide receivers. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: While Van Jefferson is a second-year player and he appeared in all 16 games for the Rams last season, the truth is that he was barely used by Los Angeles in 2020. Jefferson logged only 31 targets for 19 receptions and 220 yards to go with a single touchdown, and never really was considered a viable fantasy play. That kind of changed by the last game of the season, though, as Jefferson finally played 60%+ of the offensive snaps against Arizona and reached 9 PPR points for the first time with an 8-4-50 stat line.
Van Jefferson was able to keep building on that season finale to kick 2021 off, finishing only behind Cooper Kupp in fantasy points this weekend among Rams skill-position players. Jefferson logged 34 snaps for a 65% participation on offensive plays, and he made that work out to a 3-2-80-1 outlier of a line. That's correct, outlier I said. Catching a couple of passes for such yardage and scoring a TD on top of that is not going to be a weekly thing for Jefferson--or anyone, for that matter.
Even then, though, Jefferson showcased what he's capable of, is now playing for a better QB in veteran Matthew Stafford, and is one of the ultimate boom/bust plays in the league (he's just not beating Kupp/Robert Woods/Tyler Higbee and maybe even DeSean Jackson in the pecking order). If you're part of a super deep league and want a flier to start at the FLEX spot with WR2 upside if all stars align, Van might be your man. If you don't believe in miracles, though, he might not be that good for your nerves.
