BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard was a popular late first-round or early second-round fantasy football draft pick. After ending the 2022 season as a top-10 running back, many had high expectations for the explosive runner in his first year as the starter. While he hasn’t been a complete disaster, Pollard is the RB14 for the year, averaging 11.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Where Pollard has struggled the most is in the red zone. The running back has only five rushing touchdowns this season, failing to score in three consecutive contests. Last week, he nearly had a rushing touchdown. However, Pollard fumbled at the goal line, ultimately playing a critical role in the Cowboys’ loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Unfortunately, the former Memphis star has an awful matchup during the fantasy football championship game. Pollard faces the Detroit Lions tomorrow night in a critical game for both playoff-bound teams. Detroit has held running backs to 14.4 fantasy points per game, the fewest in the NFL.
They have given up only 48.7 rushing yards and 9.9 fantasy points per game to running backs over the past three weeks. Fantasy players should consider Pollard a boom or bust RB2 in Week 17.
