BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~70 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~88
ANALYSIS: Cohen's profile and his situation in Chicago is the classic pass-catching, no.2-tailback one. In fact, James White might be the prime example of this and PFF has White projected to 143 PPR points in 2020 with Cohen coming in at 173... and still getting drafted half a round later than White, making the Bear a much more valuable pick as he is 1) cheaper and 2) potentially better on the field.
Tarik Cohen brings a little bit more to the equation than White, though, thanks to his higher usage rate on the running game having to fight only with RB1 David Montgomery for touches there compared to White's battle with Sony Michel and now late-signee Lamar Miller too. Cohen projects to get 17.5% of Chicago's rushing attempts (66) in 2020 compared to White's 8.8% (38 attempts). The best projection going Cohen's way, though, is that his pass-catching numbers are projected to end at 85/64/567/2 tgt/rec/yds/TD next season, which would make him the third most-targeted player among his teammates (all positions considered) and give him 151 opportunities on the season for an 18.3% share of Chicago's total.
Although Cohen had a middling first half in 2019 averaging 8.2 PPG from the first game to Week 9, he raised that average to 12.3 PPG during the last eight games of the season. He scored the 18th-most PPR points in that span thanks mostly to his 45 receptions, third only to Christian McCaffrey's 74 and Alvin Kamara's 48 from Week 10 on. Cohen recently admitted he didn't take care of his body properly last year, so it's possible that he will be recommitted to being better. Getting off the board as the RB32 these days but projecting to finish as an RB2 on the season, I'd target Cohen earlier (around the 6th round) than his ADP indicates and play him at the FLEX position if not as an RB2/3 in PPR leagues.
