Should I pickup Christian Watson, Trey Benson, Devin Neal as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 8 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) is set to make his debut this week after suffering a torn ACL last season. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Trey Benson (knee) is currently on injured reserve, but is expected to make his return soon.
Meanwhile, New Orleans Saints RB Devin Neal, a rookie draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is set to get more backfield work for his team after the injury to Saints backup RB Kendre Miller (knee), who tore his ACL in Week 7 and is done for the year.
Each of the players in this piece should have expanded opportunities as a result of injuries, or recovery from injuries, but should you grab Watson, Benson, and Neal off waivers ahead of Week 8?

Christian Watson Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Watson will return to a team with a hideously bad rotation at wide receiver. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has made it clear, through his play-calling, the team's production, and his own words, that he hates the idea of hyper-targeting one receiver.
#Packers HC Matt LaFleur on the pecking order of his WR room:
“I want to vomit every time I hear ‘No. 1 receiver,’ to be honest with you. It drives me crazy. That’s something that you guys talk about, I feel like we’ve got a bunch of them. I think the beauty of them is they’re… pic.twitter.com/nwsl2IQT6V

While many fantasy managers were unconvinced, and drafted Packers receivers in redraft leagues anyway, I avoided them entirely. Watson is nothing more than a deep league stash for me. He's very valuable to his team as a run-blocker, but coming off a major injury, it's unlikely he has a ton of upside.
He could make one or two big plays and potentially catch a touchdown, but even last season, he was highly inconsistent. Of 15 games played, he had nine contests with single-digit PPR fantasy points, and was often injured even before tearing his ACL.
Trey Benson Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Benson is still rostered on 61 percent of Sleeper leagues, likely because teams are stashing him in their injured reserve (IR) spots in their lineup. Benson has quite a bit of upside as the RB1 on a team that doesn't have much other talent at RB.

Benson is actually one of the more elusive running backs in the NFL. He's playing on a bad offense, as the Cardinals simply aren't what they were in previous years, but he's played much better than either any of his backup RBs. Michael Carter, Bam Knight, and Emari Demercado are simply not as talented as Benson.
The Cardinals love to run the ball heavily, so if Benson is unrostered in your leagues, I would pick him up. Arizona has a bye week, so you'll have to hold him through that, but the payoff is nice.
Devin Neal Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Neal is a rookie that struggled against Power-4 competition in his final college season and was the third-string back on his team before an injury to the guy ahead of him. And as the Saints RB2, Miller wasn't very productive for fantasy football.
At the time of his injury, he was a speculative stash, but not much more. Neal should be rostered in dynasty leagues, as he's a very young player that could develop nicely over the coming years, but he won't have much of a pass-catching role, as that's likely to go to New Orleans lead back Alvin Kamara.

For now, he's at least earned some playing time with his pass-protection abilities. And if Kamara were to get hurt, Neal would be a priority pickup. But it's hard to project him being relevant right away.
Should I Pickup Christian Watson, Trey Benson, or Devin Neal For Fantasy Football?
Benson is a must-add if he's not rostered in a league you're in. Watson isn't a player I'd be excited about rostering anywhere, due to the Packers being such a run-heavy team that spreads the ball around. And Neal is a speculative pickup that I don't see having much upside even if Kamara were to get hurt.
Waivers are pretty barren this time of year, but Watson and Neal are tough to trust in starting lineups, and Benson is rostered in a majority of leagues. So you might be out of luck unless you're in a very deep league where every team's RB2 and WR4 should be rostered.
