BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR2
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has had a rookie season of two halves. He started the year struggling to earn consistent snaps despite the fantasy football community begging the Chiefs to make him a full-time player. However, the rookie has been outstanding lately, totaling 14.7 or more half-point PPR fantasy points in four of the past six games.
Despite the slow start, Rice is the WR22 for the year, averaging 10.8 fantasy points per game. He has become Patrick Mahomes’ new go-to target, with Travis Kelce showing signs of age and regression. The rookie has been outstanding, leading the team in receiving touchdowns (seven).
Rice has an excellent matchup in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The AFC West division rivals have surrendered 32.8 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the third-most in the NFL. Unfortunately, fantasy players want to avoid starting the star wide receiver in Week 18.
The Chiefs are locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoffs, making this week’s matchup meaningless for the team. Head coach Andy Reid already announced that Patrick Mahomes won’t play. While Rice should get some snaps in this game, the star rookie likely won’t play much.
