BALLER MOVE: Start in All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR1
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has been a league winner move this season. Anyone who added the star rookie wide receiver off the waiver wire after Week 1 or wisely spent a late-round draft pick on him (like myself) is likely playing for a fantasy football championship today.
Nacua is the WR7 for the year, averaging 14.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has the same fantasy points per game average as Ja’Marr Chase, who was a top-four draft pick in most fantasy football leagues. While the rookie has battled through multiple injuries in 2023, he hasn’t missed a game. Despite dealing with a help injury, Nacua will play today against the New York Giants.
Last week, the former BYU star had a massive performance against the New Orleans Saints in a critical win for Los Angeles. He had nine receptions on 11 targets for 164 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 28.5 fantasy points. Nacua ended Week 16 as the WR3 despite seeing fewer targets than Cooper Kupp.
Today, he faces a New York defense that has struggled to slow down wide receivers. They have surrendered 31.2 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the fifth-most in the NFL. Fantasy players should slide Nacua into their WR1 slot and forget about it.
