Yordan Alvarez Still Absent Wednesday
1 year agoHouston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (finger) remains sidelined on Wednesday against the visiting Boston Red Sox. Alvarez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup after slamming his finger in a door while at home. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger is day-to-day, so fantasy managers will want to check back to see if he's back in Thursday's series finale against Boston. With Alvarez out again, Yainer Diaz is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth for Houston. Alvarez has missed valuable time in 2023 due to injury, but he's been a solid fantasy contributor when healthy, hitting .278/.383/.556 with a .939 OPS, 21 home runs, 15 doubles, a triple, 68 RBI and 57 runs scored in 80 games played. The two-time All-Star is a must-start when he's active.
