Will Vest Nails Down Seventh Save
Will Vest allowed two hits and one earned run in his team's 3-1 home win over the San Francisco Giants. Vest struck out one to lock down his seventh save of the season. The 29-year-old was called upon to protect a 3-0 lead in the top of the ninth inning and promptly yielded a Heliot Ramos single, who was able to come home a batter later when Wilmer Flores doubled him in. However, he'd mostly settle in afterward -- inducing Jung Hoo Lee and Matt Chapman into a fly-out and foul-out before punching out Willy Adames to end the threat. It was Vest's first earned run in just under a month as he's been excellent thus far, sporting a superb 1.73 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 28:9 K:BB ratio over 26 innings pitched (24 appearances).
