Welington Castillo Is Among The Most Underrated Catchers Entering 2018
7 years agoNewly signed catcher Welington Castillo has been one of fantasy baseball's most underrated catchers over the past five seasons. This past season with the Baltimore Orioles, Castillo was one of six catchers to hit 20 or more home runs. When looking at the catcher position, there is not much depth after the prime suspects being Buster Posey, Gary Sanchez, Willson Contreras, Salvador Perez and J.T. Realmuto. All of the aforementioned players are likely to be drafted way ahead of Castillo. If you miss out on one of them, Castillo makes for a fine target and you will be able to get him much later in the draft. Castillo should be able to hit 20 home runs at Guaranteed Rate Field and has a chance to hit in the middle of the lineup behind Yoan Moncada, Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia which will increase his chances to drive in more runs. He should be drafted in all leagues and should be able to produce top-10 numbers at the catcher position for fantasy owners.
