Mets Not Pursuing Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez before the July 31 trade deadline, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The Mets are instead prioritizing acquiring bullpen help, according to Heyman, who lists starting pitching and center field as other potential areas of focus for the club. On paper, Suarez would be a clear upgrade over Mets third base options Ronny Mauricio, Mark Vientos, and Brett Baty. They've combined for mediocre-at-best production, while Suarez has been one of the top power hitters in the league. Nevertheless, it doesn't appear that the Mets and Diamondbacks will line up on a deal for the two-time All-Star.
