The Washington Football Team exercised defensive tackle Daron Payne's fifth-year option for the 2022 season on Tuesday. Payne will make roughly $8.5 million fully guaranteed in 2022. He is due a fully guaranteed $2.5 million in base salary in 2021 with a $4.6 million salary cap hit. Payne was the No. 13 pick in the 2018 draft and has become a staple on the team's interior defensive line. Along with Jonathan Allen, Chase Young and Montez Sweat, the Washington defensive line has become one of the league's top defensive fronts. Payne played the most snaps (881) of any player on Washington's line last year and recorded 54 tackles, three sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also has a team-high 86 run stops in the last three seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
