Trevor Story Doesn't Need Surgery
5 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story (thumb) landed on the injured list on Thursday with a sprained right thumb, but extensive tests showed no structural damage and he's expected to avoid surgery. However, this is an injury that could still cause him to miss at least two weeks. It's much better than when Story suffered torn ligaments in his left thumb in 2016 in his rookie season. He's currently hitting .294 with 17 home runs and has been one of the most productive fantasy shortstops in baseball. Keep him stashed everywhere. Brendan Rodgers, 22, should see regular playing time with Story out and is worth another pickup in deep mixed leagues. He hit .246 with no homers in 21 games after making his big league debut on May 17, but his upside is undeniable.
