Trea Turner Swipes Ninth Bag Thursday
Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in his team's 7-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The North Carolina State product added a single and stole his ninth bag of the season in the victory. Turner did all of his damage in the eighth inning or later on Thursday. He doubled in that frame -- but was left stranded -- and ultimately pushed across the game's winning run in the top of the tenth when he singled in Brandon Marsh off Rays reliever Manuel Rodriguez. He stole second a batter later. The former first-round pick has been excellent recently, tallying at least one knock in 12 of 13 appearances with seven multi-hit efforts -- including three straight. Over that stretch, he's a blistering 23-for-58 (.396) with four extra-base hits, three steals, eight RBI, and ten runs scored. Turner is up to a crisp .310 on the season.
