T.J. Watt 2024 Outlook: IDP’s Top Defender Once Again
6 months agoAfter struggling with injuries in 2022, Watt put concerns about his age and health to rest early last year. He once again led the NFL in sacks, which is something he's done in three of the past four seasons. He also finished tenth in quarterback pressures, third in quarterback hits, and fifth in forced fumbles. Watt's turnover rate is no fluke, either. He has placed top-five in forced fumbles in three of the past five seasons. Pittsburgh's addition of Payton Wilson, Patrick Queen, and Donte Jackson should only take attention away from Watt and make his job easier. While age and injuries are an increasingly relevant worry with the Wisconsin alum, nothing about his advanced metrics or film suggests his play has hit a point of decline. The only concern here is injury. If Watt can remain healthy, then he is the top fantasy defender for at least one more season. The only leagues where Watt should not be the first defender off the board are those that neuter sacks and those where he is designated as an LB only.
