Spencer Steer Still Out on Tuesday
Spencer Steer (leg) remains out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays at Great American Ball Park. Rookie Sal Stewart will make another start at first base and will hit sixth against Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. A leg injury will cause Steer to miss his second straight start, although he did come off the bench in Monday's series opener, suggesting he could return to the starting nine as early as Wednesday's tilt. Stewart made his major-league debut in Monday's win over Toronto and went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a strikeout. Steer is hitting only .235 (107-for-455) but should reach the 20-homer mark for the third straight season with the Reds. He's currently sitting at 17 homers and 63 RBI in 128 games. He's mostly disappointed in the steals department (six) after swiping a career-high 25 in 2024.
