Shay Whitcomb Recalled on Sunday
Shay Whitcomb has been recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend. The expectation is that Whitcomb will take over the active roster spot with Isaac Paredes (hamstring) going down during Saturday's game. The Astros haven't officially said Paredes is heading to the injured list, but that announcement should come soon. Whitcomb hasn't really received a fair shot at the big league level with only 32 games under his belt in parts of two seasons. He was slashing .275/.359/.554 with 19 home runs and 43 RBI across 65 games in Triple-A this season. Assuming Paredes goes to the IL, Whitcomb should get fairly regular playing time in Houston. He's not someone that needs to be rostered until he can prove that he's able to hit big league pitching.
