New York Mets left-hander Sean Manaea will start on Sunday against the Washington Nationals, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Right-hander Clay Holmes had been scheduled for the start, but he'll instead follow Manaea in relief. The Mets went with the opposite arrangement on Sept. 16 (Holmes started, Manaea came out of the bullpen) and pulled off an 8-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Manaea threw five frames of one-run ball to earn the victory in his second relief outing of 2025. In 12 appearances (10 starts) this season, the 33-year-old has gone 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts against 10 walks. He faced the Nationals on Aug. 21 and took the loss after surrendering four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.--Connor Byrne
