Sam Darnold Won't Be Benched
4 years agoNew York Jets head coach Adam Gase remains committed to struggling quarterback Sam Darnold after an 0-3 start. Darnold had three interceptions -- two which were returned for touchdowns -- in the Week 3 blowout loss to the Colts. Veteran backup Joe Flacco (neck) underwent surgery in April and has been out the first three games. Flacco didn't start practicing until last week and might be inactive again this Thursday against the Broncos. Mike White, who has no regular season experience, is currently the backup until Flacco gets healthy. It's not all Darnold's fault, as Gang Green's best offensive players -- Le'Veon Bell, Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman -- have all been sidelined by injuries in recent weeks. Until further notice, it's best to avoid this entire offense, even against a banged-up Broncos Defense in Week 4. Darnold has 32 interceptions in 29 career starts.
