The New Orleans Saints converted over $8 million of defensive end Marcus Davenport's $9.553 million base salary in 2022 into a signing bonus on Tuesday to create $6.8144 million in salary cap space this year, according to a source. The Saints began the offseason with one of the worst salary cap situations once again, but they continue to restructure contracts to kick the can down the road. Davenport played in 11 games for the second straight season in 2021, but he managed to tally a career-high nine sacks while adding 39 tackles (23 solo), nine tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. The 25-year-old could be a weekly IDP option if he can just stay healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
