Ryan Weathers Expected To Start For Padres On Wednesday
3 years agoSan Diego Padres left-handed pitcher Ryan Weathers is expected to be called up from Triple-A to start Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. The 22-year-old had a rough go of things in his first taste of the majors last year. He made 30 appearances (18 starts) and pitched to a 5.32 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP to go along with a 4-7 record. Things have been even worse for him at Triple-A this year. Across 12 starts for the El Paso Chihuahuas this season, he's gone 3-4 with a 7.29 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP. His expected promotion is certainly a bit surprising, but the team clearly wants to allow its current starters to move forward on normal rest rather than bumping Joe Musgrove up a day from Thursday to Wednesday.
