Ryan Gusto To Enter Rotation and Start on Friday
Cal Quantrill, they will turn to rookie right-hander Ryan Gusto, who will make the start in Friday's series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Craig Mish of Sports Grid. If Gusto pitches well in his return to the majors, he'll have a shot to stick around in the starting rotation in Miami for a while. The Fish acquired the 26-year-old in the deal that sent outfielder Jesus Sanchez to the Houston Astros at the trade deadline. In his first year in the big leagues with Houston and Miami, Gusto has gone 7-5 with a 4.89 ERA (3.99 FIP) and 1.40 WHIP with 95 strikeouts and 30 walks in 99 innings over 25 outings (15 starts). In his Marlins debut on Aug. 9 against Atlanta, he allowed three runs in six innings with two walks and eight K's. Gusto is an option for NL-only leagues but won't be a recommended streamer on Friday against Toronto.
