Russell Wilson Could Be Out 6-8 Weeks
3 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks are bracing for quarterback Russell Wilson (finger) to miss at least a month and possibly six to eight weeks after he ruptured his middle-finger tendon in the Thursday night loss to the Los Angeles Rams, according to sources. Wilson will likely need surgery to fix the tendon, with the Seahawks considering his long-term health. This could be a death blow to fantasy managers that were planning on riding Wilson all season long. Geno Smith, who looked good while throwing a touchdown to receiver D.K. Metcalf in relief Thursday night, will take over as the starter under center moving forward. He looked to have a good grasp of Seattle's offense, but the move from Wilson to Smith will be a big drop-off, so fantasy managers need to downgrade Metcalf and Tyler Lockett moving forward. Smith will be in play as a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues, starting in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
