Reds Considering Willy Adames
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds are still looking at shortstops and have considered free-agent Jonathan Villar and trades for Cleveland Indians shortstop Amed Rosario and Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Willy Adames. Cincy signed infielder Dee Strange-Gordon to a minor league deal over the weekend, but he's mostly a depth/fallback option at the position. Adames would likely cost the Reds some decent prospects, but Tampa may be open to dealing him with top prospect Wander Franco on the horizon. Adames is under team control for the next four seasons and would be an immediate upgrade with the glove and the bat. A trade for Adames would allow Kyle Farmer to serve as a utility infielder and take pressure off the team to rush Jose Garcia to the majors. The 22-year-old Garcia is the team's best infield prospect, but he could use some more minor league seasoning.
