Rays Optimistic That Tyler Glasnow Will Start Saturday
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that right-hander Tyler Glasnow (back) played catch on Wednesday and that the team is "optimistic" that he will make his next start on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians. However, the Rays probably won't know for sure until Saturday morning. The 29-year-old was scratched from his last scheduled start on Sunday due to back spasms, but he has rebounded nicely since then and is tentatively set to toe the rubber this weekend in a good matchup against Cleveland. It's great news for the Rays' starting rotation after they learned this week that left-hander Shane McClanahan (forearm) is going to miss the rest of the year. Glasnow has the makings of a fantasy ace when he's right, and he's gone 5-3 on the year with a nice 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96 K's in 68 2/3 innings (12 starts).
