Rays Expected To Call Up Vidal Brujan
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays are expected to call up infielder Vidal Brujan from the minors on Wednesday as the 27th man for their doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians, but he seems likely to stick around after that as the replacement for outfielder Manuel Margot (hamstring), who was placed on the injured list on Tuesday. Brujan is Tampa's No. 2 prospect and the No. 36 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, and he is hitting .259/.344/.471 with nine home runs, 29 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 19 tries in 49 games for Triple-A Durham. Because of his elite speed alone -- he has 166 steals in six minor league seasons -- he's worth a speculative addition in most leagues. While Tampa is unlikely to let Brujan just sit when he gets to the big leagues, he could go right back to Durham when Margot has recovered from his hamstring injury.
