3 years agoThe Texas Rangers, who are seeking offensive upgrades this offseason, are considering free-agent outfielder Starling Marte. After a fine season in 2021, Marte has already been receiving interest from the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Miami Marlins, among other teams. The 33-year-old may be the top outfielder available on the open market and can still hit for average and power, gets on base at a high clip and can run. Marte's defense in center field has slipped in recent seasons, but he should profile nicely in a corner-outfield spot in 2022. Between the Marlins and Oakland Athletics last season, Marte slashed .310/.383/.458 with 12 home runs, 55 RBI, a career-high-tying 47 stolen bases and 89 runs scored in 526 plate appearances over 120 games.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
