Giancarlo Stanton to Play Outfield Tuesday, Rest Wednesday
Giancarlo Stanton (lower body) will return to the lineup and play right field against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, manager Aaron Boone told Talkin' Yanks. The Yankees will then give Stanton a breather in Wednesday's series finale. With Aaron Judge unable to play the outfield as he recovers from a flexor strain in his right elbow, Stanton lined up in the grass from Monday to Wednesday last week. However, he was out of the lineup for the Yankees' past three games as a result of lower-body soreness. Until Judge's injury, Stanton hadn't played the outfield since 2023. It's not ideal for the Yankees to use Stanton in right, but if they want to keep the 35-year-old's bat in the lineup, they don't have any other choice until Judge can return to the outfield. After missing the first two and a half months of the season with elbow issues, Stanton made his debut June 16 and has slashed a sensational .299/.377/.576 with 12 homers, 34 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 162 plate appearances.
