Randy Arozarena Wins AL Rookie Of The Year
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena won the American League Rookie of the Year award on Monday. Arozarena was already on the map after breaking out in the playoffs in 2020. Astros right-hander Luis Garcia finished in second place, with Tampa teammate Wander Franco finishing third. Arozarena became the fourth player in Rays history to win the Rookie of the Year, and the 26-year-old is the first player in either league to be named ROY after winning a playoff MVP award (AL Championship Series MVP in 2020). He hit 20 home runs and stole 20 bases, becoming just the third rookie in the last 10 years to post a 20-20 season. Overall, he slashed .274/.356/.459 with 32 doubles, 69 RBI and 94 runs scored in 141 games. Arozaren's power and speed combination make him a highly attractive fantasy asset.
